“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.” – Dr Seuss –
When I first started this blog, I was determined that I wouldn’t write a post about us just in case we were to break up. This morning I woke up and realised how silly that was. One of the main reasons why I have a blog is to preserve memories and he makes up a lot of mine. Over the years, I have found it difficult to recall things and I want to be able to look back to these posts and remember these parts of my life.
Today marks our four-and-a-half years together. I first met Matt at the university book shop. I saw the pile of textbooks he was carrying and asked whether or not he was doing my course, Exercise Science. He was quite short with me, answering with a simple, yes. He then walked away to join his friends in the queue.
On our first official introduction through our mutual friend, Nathan, I didn’t remember him as the boy from the book shop but apparently he remembered me. According to him, he started to see me everywhere he goes after meeting me a the book shop. We became good friends quickly. It was quite strange as we discovered that we had very little in common in terms of personality and interest. As our relationship progressed, we discovered things to love together and that, alongside our similar values made for a good foundation in our relationship.
We would spend the whole day studying together and towards the end of that first semester when we were finally together, he would be at my house cramming the last bits of information before the exam. To this day, he is one of the most hard working person I know and that is just one of his many wonderful qualities. I feel lucky to have found someone who can make me see the world differently. Someone who is at times so different but with a soul that my own could recognise.
Wow!
